Why is the Wake County School Board So Dumb?
The Wake County School board passed a 5-4 vote to end Desegregation. They ended the diversity policy. They took into no account what the students affected would feel. Why are southerners so crazy?

I am 46 yo. I went threw this school system. It is one of the worst systems in this county, look at the stats. My parents worked very hard to live in a middle class neighborhood. When I went to Jr. High School I did not go the school where my older sister and neighborhood kids did. I was bussed to a section 8 neighborhood school. I can tell you from first hand experience that this was devastating to me, my friends, and my family. I did not attend college as I was bussed out to low rent neighborhood high school. I am average guy. Most kids that were average went to collage before busing. There is a whole generation of us who have paid very negative effected by bussing law. I am so grateful that they have changed this communist like law. A lot has changed in Raleigh in 40 years. That section 8 neighborhood has been demolished and replaced with incubator businesslike park. This county is more diverse than most because of Research Triangle Park and all of the multitudes of fortune 500 companies that do business here. Did some of these African Americans receive a better education? Yes, and I know some of them today. These kids came from the type of families who would ensure they received a good eduction no matter what school they went too. I am grateful my kids will not get bussed out of my mixed neighborhood. We may not have the best shiniest school, but I am proud of what I have accomplished with my "intercity bussed out of my middle class neighborhood" eduction. I am proud of my little mixed neighborhood and I want my kids to go to school right down the street from home where the can walk home and not get bussed out of here 30 miles away to some rich neighborhood school like I should have gone to. Maybe they will not go to college like me.
