That SAT score is a real problem. Is there a good chance you could do better if you re-took the test and crammed for it? The middle half of a recent UT freshman class had scores ranging from 1700 to 2050. Your 1490 is so far below the middle half's low end that it could block your admission. Wake Forest hasn't shared as much information, but 80% of its students do submit an SAT or ACT score, and their middle half scores between 1240 and 1410 on just the math and critical reading (no writing). So I'd say you probably don't have a chance there. I know that's got to be discouraging, but keep in mind that your grades alone can get you into many schools, and that a hard-working student can get a first-rate education at a school whose overall reputation is not one of excellence but of mere competence.

All this indicates you've been doing very well, & I think you have a shot. However, you may want to consider retaking your SATs & getting tutoring/taking an SAT class first.
